Busy healthcare workers joined today’s Whitney Museum of American Art and NYC Health + Hospitals HHArt of Medicine workshop to create!

Today, through the amazing partnership between Whitney Museum of American Art and NYC Health + Hospitals, the HHArt of Medicine team offered our 25th workshop of 2025!!

Mother Nature offers inherent wisdom around the power of community care. Trees spread nourishment through shared roots below the surface and lean together to create shaded canopies to block out intense heat during scorching summer months.

The overhead view of artmaking in progress and scattered supplies beautifully captures the burst of creative energy that flowed through today’s wellness workshop. Busy, bright, layered, bold, playful!

Any opportunity that allows us to get playful, silly, curious, embodied, experimental, and/or fully present are equally as valuable as creatively producing, viewing, or engaging with Fine Arts in some capacity. Why?

The United States may be excelling at the Olympic games this summer, but they are still wildly failing females of reproductive age when it comes to supporting their freedom of choice around unwanted or even nonviable pregnancies.

It’s been a rough year for so many–environmentally, politically, spiritually, personally. Without sugar coating hardship or minimizing the struggle at home or out in the world, I do believe in the power of our experiences to enrich us with the right support.

Yesterday was our first arts-based workshop of the autumn season provided for a dynamic group of administrators, physicians, and clinicians at Elmhurst Hospital Center along with my esteemed colleague from the Whitney Museum of American Art.

A recent "Discover" magazine article highlighted the benefits of visual art exposure on mental health. Viewing visual art activates the same brain reward systems as other pleasurable, highly sensory activities.
